NSA Metro North Meeting Information
PURPOSE:
A NSA (National Stuttering Association) self-help group will provide information, advocacy, and mutual support for people who stutter and can complement professional speech therapy. People who stutter have few opportunities to meet others and discuss their challenges openly. They need emotional support and encouragement from others who understand what they're going through. Also, the groups can also be a valuable source of information for speech and language professionals who are welcome.
ACTIVITIES:
The meetings allow people who stutter practice speaking in an informal, non-threatening environment. The members exchange information on stuttering and it's treatment and compare experiences. This is a not-for-profit group but eventual membership in the National Stuttering Association is encouraged.
